Do you feel lucky, intrepid Linux geek?
My Gentoo odyssey : This is Joe Barr's documented experience with Gentoo. I think I went through something similar first time I tried installing Gentoo, some gazillion years ago. It took me 4 days to get something that would even work ( 3 of those days were spent on compiling the different packages - uhm - ebuilds, the remaining day was devoted to editing configuration files and trying to get gcc to love me ) and what rather unpleasant experience that was. Read this story; it conceals some great truths, and its funny to boot.

Book: Advanced Linux Programming
I just read this book ( Advanced Linux Programming) which was somewhat interesting. I didn't really find anything advanced in the book whatsoever, though, nor anything that terribly useful. If you are beginning Linux programming, this may be good for you. The best books I have read on the subject came from Richard Stevens. Huge books packed with interesting and way useful information. May God rests his soul.

Briefly : of Note
GP2X is a pretty neat, open source / Linux based, video game console and media player. Its especially great for running an emulator on it and playing all those great games of the past.
