Room space optimization and related enhancements
I am in a dire need for a new desk, a new chair and a clean, stripped off unnecessary objects, room. My chair is perhaps the worst of its kind; bought for a small amount of money, it turned out to be worthless. Not only it doesn't benefit me in anyway, it causes spine aches and drives me crazy. My desk has barely enough surface for my laptop(s) and my screen, and I can't even get my arms on it completely. In addition to that, there are so many things on top of it ( most of them should be gone ) that make it even less bearable, as if it wasn't hard to use it already.
Because of the extremely limited space in my room, I keep a dozen of my books around while the rest ( hundreds of those ) are kept at my parents place, along with my DVDs, computer games, magazines and whatnot. Clearly, I need a way to optimize this space, somehow, in order to be able to have more books around. I am considering getting some shelves attached to the wall or something alone that lines.
My TV is a crappy 14" Philips which served me a couple of years ago. I generally never watch TV, unless there is a really great movie that I would like to watch (extremely rare), but with the Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360 coming soon, I will need something to hook them to. Getting a great TV would also help me with the forthcoming Apple iTV appliance that would allow the 'transmission' of all sorts of media from my MacBook Pro to the TV screen.
Sometimes I believe its best to settle for a desk, a plain chair, a bed - or even just a mattress on the floor - and nothing else inside the room. No TV set, no books, no speakers, no gadgets, no nothing. This would make things simpler, provide me with more space and 'room to breathe' and way, way less distractions. Its would be simple / efficient and cost-effective to 'refactor' my room after this concept, unfortunately it wouldn't work well with some some 'external factors'.
Less is definitely more when it comes to optimizing space utilization.
